About Us

We write high-immersion live-action role playing games (LARPs). We seek to create detailed worlds with strong internal consistency. Our goal is to allow players to explore these worlds through a communally-told story.

What is LARP?

LARPs, or "Live Action Role Playing Games," are a broad category of entertainment where individuals take on characters in a shared world. Each player acts out the life of their character; what they do and say is what their character does.

There are many different kinds and styles of LARPs, ranging from "theater-style" games focused on roleplaying to "boffer" games where people fight epic battles with foam swords. Many games mix styles. Our games lean towards the theater style with a heavy emphasis on telling a communal story.

What are your LARPs like?

We love to experiment, so there's no one way to define this, but here are some things we go for:

  • A detailed world and detailed player histories, so that there are rich backstories to refer to when talking to others.
  • Strong internal consistency. If something "feels off" to someone, there's probably an underlying cause to investigate!
  • Minimum mechanics. Generally, if you need to do something in one of our games, you just do it. Thus, there is as little break from the immersion as possible. (This led to the magic system we use in the Dogmas universe that has received lots of positive praise.)

Our focus on creating detailed worlds has led to long background sheets. The sheets for Dogmas of the Stormy Past, for example, total over 2000 unique pages of material. This creates a real, full world to play in.
